Using documentary photography to connect with communities living outside the stadiums of the World Cup.
In January 2014, an international team of people with different talents and backgrounds went to Brazil and taught photography workshops in nine locations. There was particular emphasis on community-based organizations in order to highlight daily life and surroundings of Recife, one of the twelve World Cup venues.
The team wanted to draw attention to the beautiful communities and grassroots initiatives and unite them through the power of photography. They taught photography and were given music, dishes made from organic crops, walks through its dynamic communities of urban life, hiking in the desert to see the beaches and parties of fishermen. Sincere exchanges that fed the five senses, diversity and longing.
